As the cryptocurrency market declines, the number of major crypto investors is also decreasing. According to CryptoRank, the number of unique large investors in the cryptocurrency sector dropped to 651 in the second quarter of 2026 — the lowest since early 2020 and almost four times less than the peak of 2,564 investors recorded in the third quarter of 2022. This refers not to retail market participants but to venture funds, institutional players, and large strategic investors who finance crypto startups and shape valuations of projects in their early stages. Over four years, the number of such players has decreased by 75%. For comparison, even in the pandemic's first quarter of 2021, when the market was just beginning to revive, there were 840. The current number of 651 indicates a level at which the venture ecosystem of cryptocurrencies is functioning at minimal turnover.

The first increase began in 2020 and peaked at the end of 2022 amid the NFT, DeFi, and Web3 boom—when hundreds of new funds were drawn in by sky-high returns. The collapse of FTX in November 2022 initiated a reversal: the number of investors began to decline, and despite a local recovery in the first quarter of 2024 to 1,316 players amid the approval of Bitcoin ETFs and a new record high, the trend remained downward. The current second quarter of 2026 has accelerated this dynamic: in just one quarter, the number of major investors decreased from approximately 762 to 651. For crypto startups, this means a significant deterioration in conditions for raising capital.

A reversal of this trend is likely to occur only after the adoption of the CLARITY Act and the emergence of a new regulatory horizon capable of restoring institutional interest in crypto ventures.

Regarding short-term trading, the strategy and conditions are described below.

Bitcoin

Buy Scenario

Scenario #1: I plan to buy Bitcoin today when the entry point reaches around $60,100, aiming for growth to the level of $61,200. Around $61,200, I will exit the buy positions and immediately sell on the bounce. Before buying on a breakout, ensure that the 50-day moving average is below the current price, and the Awesome Oscillator is above zero.

Scenario #2: I can buy Bitcoin from the lower boundary of $59,600 if there is no market reaction to its breach toward $60,100 and $61,200.

Sell Scenario

Scenario #1: I plan to sell Bitcoin today when the entry point reaches around $59,600, aiming for a decline to $58,700. Around $58,700, I will exit the sell positions and immediately buy on the bounce. Before selling on a breakout, ensure that the 50-day moving average is above the current price, and the Awesome Oscillator is below zero.

Scenario #2: I can sell Bitcoin from the upper boundary of $60,100 if there is no market reaction to its breach toward $59,600 and $58,700.
